Screening of Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi in the 25th edition of Cinemandu
To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary 2016, Embassy of India in Kathmandu and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized the 25th edition of Cinemandu on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Nepal-Bharat Library, Nepal Airlines Building, New Road Gate.
This edition of Cinemandu featured the screening of the movie “Gandhi” (Dubbed in Hindi), directed by Richard Attenborough, featuring Hollywood Actor Ben Kingsley in the role of Mahatma Gandhi. The movie was nominated for Academy Awards in eleven categories, winning eight, including Best Picture.
This acclaimed biographical drama presents major events in the life of Mohandas Gandhi (Ben Kingsley), the beloved Indian leader who stood against British colonialism in India.
Prior to the screening, Ms. Ruby Jaspreet Sharma, Secretary of B. P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation shared some information about the movie as well as the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
The B. P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation has also uploaded the e-version of “The collected works of Mahatma Gandhi” on the Embassy’s website which can accessed/downloaded on free Wi-Fi at the library.
The programme was attended by litterateurs, critics, and people from film fraternity and media among others.
