Set Design Worshop
A 10-day Set Design workshop was organized in Kathmandu through the collaboration of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, the B.P. Koirala Foundation, and Aarohan–Gurukul. The workshop was held from 1th February to 24th February 2026 in Kathmandu. Renowned artist Professor Robin Kumar Das from the National School of Drama, India, provided training on set design to more than two dozen artists and directors from across Nepal.
Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Nisha Sharma Pokharel, stated that while there has been a tradition of providing training in acting and directing in Nepal, this was the first time a training program specifically focused on set design had been conducted. She added that Nepalese artists and directors were able to gain more benefits than expected in a short period through the training of a distinguished personality like Professor Das from the prestigious National School of Drama, India.
On the occasion of the workshop’s closing, theatre director Kedar Shrestha expressed that having Professor Das from the National School of Drama was like experiencing a “pilgrimage of theatre” at home. Senior theatre director Sunil Pokharel also expressed gratitude, saying that Professor Das accepting the invitation and coming to Nepal for the training was itself a significant achievement.
Professor Das shared that he was pleased to see both senior and junior artists and directors from Nepal participating in the workshop with great enthusiasm.
At the closing ceremony held at Aarohan Gurukul in Bijulibazar, Thapa Gaun, certificates were distributed to the participants, and a token of appreciation was presented to the trainer, Professor Das, on behalf of the organizers.
