Manjhi: The Mountain Man in 27th series of Cinemandu

B.P Koirala India- Nepal Foundation organized its 27th series of ‘Cinemandu’ on Friday, 9th September 2016 at Nepal Bharat Library. 

 

 This series of ‘Cinemandu’ featured the Hindi movie titled ‘Manjhi: The Mountain Man’ which is a 2015 Indian biographical drama film, based on the life of Dasrath Manjhi.

Dashrath Manjhi, also known as the Mountain Man, was a poor laborer in Gehlaur village near Gaya in Bihar, India, who carved a path 110 m long, 9.1 m wide and 7.6 m deep through a hillock using only a hammer and chisel. After 22 years of work, Dashrath shortened travel between the Atri and Wazirgunj blocks of Gaya town from 55 km to 15km.
